Application of liquid ring vacuum pump in pharmaceutical industry
2025-01-22 14:30In pharmaceutical production, vacuum pumps are mainly used in the following processes: distillation, purification, reaction, evaporation, drying, crystallization, etc., involving vacuum separation coarse pumping, low vacuum recovery of organic solvents, high boiling point high vacuum distillation of thermal materials, solid impurity removal vacuum filtration, powder intermediates or product vacuum drying and other vacuum separation processes. In all these processes, vacuum equipment is essential, and most of the crude and low vacuum equipment used are reciprocating vacuum pumps, rotary vane vacuum pumps, Roots vacuum pumps and vacuum pump units.
The following is a brief introduction to the four major applications of vacuum pumps in the pharmaceutical industry:
Distillation: The separation of two or more layers or parts with different temperatures, pressures, compositions, and phases. The water ring vacuum pump unit is capable of removing non-condensable matter, water and light hydrocarbons from the system and separating the raw materials through the distillation column.
Crystallization: Excessive saturated liquid evaporates and cools to form crystals that are easy to carry, store and sell. For this application, vacuum pumps are ideal, they can be used at all pressures to control evaporation and cooling rates, and to reduce costs by reducing the boiling point of the liquid.
Drying: is a low cost and low temperature procedure. The drying of medical and biological products includes the removal of solvents and water, etc., and requires a vacuum of less than 1Torr for the final drying. Generally recommended to use Roots water ring vacuum pump unit.
Vacuum degassing: To remove dissolved or residual gases from liquids or products. Vacuum pump units can remove gases from liquids, improve physical properties and product quality for further processing and avoid cross contamination or corrosion.
